From digital to cloth
From code to cloth
A system becomes a possibility.
Structure finds a physical language.
An idea enters the loom.
Computation becomes something you can touch.
The House
Where computation meets the loom
Madras Checks is a contemporary textile project from Madras, exploring generative pattern in relation to handloom craft, cotton, natural dyes, and cultural memory.
The work is currently in formation — developing the relationship between algorithm and maker, digital study and physical cloth, without pretending a finished collection already exists.
Material direction
Cotton, dye, hand, loom
The intended physical direction moves toward handloom textiles — cotton, natural colour, and the irregularity of the hand. This is material research in progress, not inventory.

History
Madras was never just a place.
The checks that carry the city's name moved through dye, port, and trade — from Tamil weaving towns to distant markets — until irregular fade became fashion, and the labour behind the cloth grew quiet. The archive continues here.

Writing from the weave
The Fabric That Faded Across Oceans
Before it became a symbol of summer cloth abroad, Madras Checks was a living fabric — hand-dyed in Tamil Nadu, carried by trade, ritual, and memory.
Weaving Memory into Code
From handloom to algorithm, Madras Checks is more than pattern — it is a map of migration, remaking, and design as cultural continuity.
The Hidden Labor Behind the Checks
Long before Madras became a marketing term, weaving towns sustained generations by making the cloth the world still claims as style.
