✨ About the Artist & Project

Madras Checks is a generative art and on-chain textile revival project by VALIPOKKANN, an independent artist from Madras (chennai), South India. It blends handwoven memory with programmable precision — reimagining traditional Madras checks through the lens of digital code.

This project bridges the worlds of fabric and frontend, ancestral weaves and algorithmic logic — using Bitcoin Ordinals and Ethereum NFTs to preserve, display, and evolve textile heritage.

🌱 Vision

To honor South India’s weaving traditions, support handloom revival, and retell textile history from the perspective of those it was taken from.

Through digital tools, the project hopes to:

  • Reclaim erased legacies in fabric design
  • Build hybrid protocols that connect craft and code
  • Fund and empower local weavers through on-chain art
  • Blur the line between ownership, memory, and material

This is more than cloth. It’s a decentralized loom of resistance, remembrance, and rebirth.
